John Grimm and Beverly Smith live in the mountains of North Georgia in the beautiful little town of Dahlonega, in Lumpkin County. For the past 25 years, John has owned and operated the towns music store, Vintage Music, home to a unique assortment of instruments and a gathering place for local musicians. Since 2010 John and Beverly have been performing together at festivals, concerts, workshops and dances across the country and abroad. Their performances feature traditional country duets and a sprinkling of newer pieces. They choose their songs well, and clearly have spent a great deal of time searching through the archives of rural american folk music. Their traditional songs and tunes reveal a deep familiarity with and great love for the genre. From haunting archaic banjo and fiddle tunes to raucus hillbilly singing they display an ease that sounds nothing but genuine.

Hi Everybody! Hope you all have been staying warm and having a peaceful and productive winter. We have been staying home a bit, working hard in our music store, Vintage Music, here in Dahlonega GA, and taking care of the goats, dogs and newly adopted cats. Beverly had thrown several handfuls of seed into the garden before we left for Europe last fall, just hoping for the best, and we came home to a bounty of greens that have fed us all winter. We've been baking our own bread, roasting our own coffee and living off the jams and jellies we canned last fall. Playing tunes each night after supper. Our favorite way to spend the winter! But with signs of spring we begin to get busy and festival season is just around the corner. Beverly is teaching fiddle at the Suwannee Banjo Camp in March, then heading back to Palestine Texas for the Palestine Old Time and Dulcimer Festival where we will meet up with old friends Don Pedi, the Rosin Sisters, The Wright Family and so many others. The folks at Palestine make us feel at home.
We will both be at Mars Hill again where John is teaching banjo and Beverly, guitar. Beverly and Alice Gerrard are planning to record in early spring. Check out the calendar page for information on upcoming shows and workshops. And thanks once again for visiting our website!! Hope to see you soon.
